No further photographs of Christian Klar in the press
The Regional Court (LG) Berlin has upheld an interim injunction against B.Z. and Bild, which prohibits the publication of photographs of Christian Klar showing him in front of the Berliner Ensemble.
According to the Berlin judges, the personality rights of Christian Klar outweighed the public interest in identifying photojournalism. The court did not follow the argument of the parties against whom the injunction was issued that the photographs constituted documents of contemporary history, given that the state-subsidised stage plays a significant role in the intellectual life of the Republic. Axel Springer Verlag announced its intention to appeal (Berufung) against the ruling.
Herr Klar has meanwhile cancelled the intended internship at the Berliner Ensemble, as he fears that the theatre could be damaged by the interest in his person and the media coverage.
